Start at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Holy Savior Parish church on Fairfield rd. Find the Black Horse historic site sign that this letterbox is named for. Read a little about the history of this area. From the sign walk downhill along Fairfield to a road sign honoring a fallen leader, turn left. Find the park of the same name and walk through the big white fence into the park. Look for the slide where two can go down together, with the tennis courts on your left walk down the path. Find the place where “EVERY DAY IS EARTH DAY.” Take the trail behind the backstop. Count three trees on your right. With the third tree at your back walk ten paces directly across the path towards the ravine. At your feet nestled in the roots of a downed tree half covered in dirt is your prize. Carefully reach under the leaves to find it. Watch out for the ravine sloping down behind the tree, and please re-hide carefully! The park closes at dark so come during daylight hours. Happy Letterboxing!
