Trail difficulty: fairly easy.
Stamp hand-carved
Status: alive and well on January 9, 2022. New clues as of January 9, 2022.

This box is placed in Lincoln Park in recognition of the 200th birthday of President Abraham Lincoln. From I-10, take exit 275 and go north on Houghton Rd. Turn left (west) on Irvington Road. Turn right (north) on Camino Seco. Turn left (west) on Escalante Road. Drive for about 6 blocks and turn left (south) into Lincoln Park.

The Park would appreciate it if you would bring a plastic bag with you and pick up any trash you may see while looking for the box.

Walk to the south end of the paved loop road and go around the white gate. Continue straight on the dirt road for about 55 steps. Go right on the dirt road that goes steeply up the slope. Walk up this dirt road for about 50 steps. Turn to your left and walk at about 110 degrees for about 25 steps to a vertical square light colored wooden post. From the post go at about 170 degrees for about 21 steps to a large flat embedded rock under the south side of a sprawling acacia tree. The box is behind the large rock under a smaller flat rock covered with some plant debris.

Please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the box (i.e. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc bag), and put all of it INSIDE the box. Please rehide the box well under the rock and twigs so that it can not be seen from any direction.

Please let me know if the box needs attention or is missing:

Please record your find at www.letterboxing.org/ or at www.atlasquest.com/ .

The original "Lincoln Park Letterbox" was the first letterbox I ever found. That was back in 2003! That box went missing and is now retired.
