Captain Abraham Lincoln began a 200-mile walk to his home in Alton, Illinois from Cold Spring Creamery Park, after his horse was stolen on his return home from the Black Hawk Wars.
This box was planted to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Lincoln's birth.
Please be stealthy and mindful of others when finding – and rehide well. While Captain Lincoln stayed here briefly and lost his horse here, let’s make sure this Lincoln letterbox stays in place for others to enjoy. Thank you.
