Find Lake Sonoma accessed from Highway 101 on the Canyon Road Exit in the Geyserville area. Follow signs to the lake turning right at the T onto Dry Creek Road and finally into the park. Keep driving until you hit the junction of Skaggs Springs and Rockpile Road. Take Rockpile and after awhile, passing several other trailheads, you’ll come to the turnout and trailhead on the right which is Lone Rock. Park and walk up the hill where are some picnic tables. Keep walking through until you are standing at the overlook of the lake. Enjoy the view. Turn around and note the two handsome madrone trees. There are hidey holes at the base of each. You want the second tree. After stamping in please close everything carefully and replace so nothing looks disturbed and/or can be casually seen.
