** THIS BOX IS NOT IN THE NATIONAL PARK!! **

Hike Length: 2 to 2.8 miles
Elevation Gain: 200 feet
Difficulty: Moderate
Stamp: Hand-carved

TO THE TRAILHEAD
From White's City, drive north into Carlsbad Caverns National Park 6.3 miles to the beginning of the Scenic Loop Road on your right. This is a one-way, dirt road that is well maintained but not appropriate for RVs. Please note that this road closes at 4:30pm daily. Drive around the loop 8.8 miles to the Juniper Ridge trailhead (AKA North Boundary Trail). There is room for only one vehicle to park on the edge of the road here -- if the spot is taken, you can continue .4 miles up the road to marker #16 where there's a larger pull-out.

TO THE BOX
Take the trail north and up for one mile, where you'll come to a fence marking the park's boundary. Stop here and notice the white plastic markers, about a foot long, spaced along the fence. Go to the first one on your right (at 40 degrees magnetic from the last cairn). A foot to the right is a tall wooden post and the box is 2 feet to the right of that, under a flat white/grey rock on the other side of the fence.
