For want of a nail, the shoe was lost;
For want of a shoe; the horse was lost;
For want of a horse, the rider was lost;
For want of a rider, the battle was lost;
For want of a battle, the kingdom was lost;
And all for want of a nail.

In 1881, George J. Capewell formed the Capewell Horsenail Company in Hartford, Connecticut. 115 years later, Capewell is still manufacturing nails in the Hartford area on machines designed by George Capewell.

George Capewell's ideas and innovation in the 1800's have stood the test of time. This enables Capewell Horsenails, Inc. to continue providing the market with products that are indispensable to horseshoeing and care of the horse.

This letterbox made its debut at a one day event at Cedar Hill Cemetery where George Capewell is buried.

New location - Machi Moodus State Park
Find the lower trail and follow the trail signs until you pass a small pond on your left. Shortly after passing it look to the left for a hemlock about 30 feet from the trail. Behind it is an unmarked trail going uphill. Follow it uphill until it levels out. Before the next incline you will notice a beech tree next to the left side of the trail. Back track 4 paces and look under mossy rock.
