DANG: missing again? If anyone is passing through Soccorro would you please check this box for me. It was hidden under the leaf litter in the crook of the tree.

The Socorro Bandito has been rehidden! It now resides near Macey Center on the New Mexico Tech campus. The Macey Center offers many of the same entertainers that perform in ABQ and SF but at a fraction of the price. Check out their listings, nmtpas.org. Next to the Macey Center is a playground, duck ponds, golf course, mineral museum, and several research centers. It's an oasis of green in the Chihuahuan desert; a welcome respite after exploring the surrounding countryside or while driving on the Interstate. So when you need a little letterboxing break, stop into Socorro for a little sustenance and aid. (Socorro is named for it's helpful nature!) We've had some great dinners at the Stage Door Grill located north of the plaza. The place that used to be Martha's Black Dog, to the east of the plaza, looks like it's up and running again but I haven't tried its new incarnation (Manzanares Street). For a giant chile breakfast, served 24 hours, we have enjoyed El Camino on the main drag. Add your favorites to the book!

To the Bandito:

The main drag is California Street running north-south between the two highway exits. On the north end you will find Bullock Street. Take that west to the NMT campus and the Macey Center. Be careful as there are a couple of 4-way stops that are easy to run. Park. Find the electronic sign. Look south to the first Cypress tree. Look in its cradling branches. Gentle ants use the tree too.

Enjoy!
