Difficulty: Fairly difficult
Distance to Microbox: Round trip about 5 miles

Status of Microbox: No Finder Yet

The "Barely a Bear" microbox is located in Lost Maples State Natural Area. When you see the stamp you will know why it is named this. Great views from the spot it was placed. The park is fun, and colorful in fall.

Directions:
From San Antonio, go west on Hwy 90 to Sabinal. Go north on RR 187 to Vanderpool. About 5 miles further, turn left into the park, and park at either trail head (use map to figure out which way you want to go). I would suggest the route below.

To the microbox:
From Parking area near picnic are and Maple Trail. Take Maple trail along the creek. You will join the East Trail in about 1/3 mile, and go left on the East Trail. Continue on East Trail, up the steep climb, to the trail junction and sign. Go left to the Scenic Overlook. At the overlook, enjoy the view. Then from the wooden bench, go back down the trail for 55 steps to a cedar tree on the left side of the trail. The microbox is at the front base of this cedar, under stuff and a pile of rocks.
