These clues require no amazing powers of deduction, but those who read will be rewarded. Depending on route choices, this hike may be very difficult for young children. Fair Warning: Those who have not yet read all books in the Harry Potter series may find some aspects later spoiled if they solve or even read these clues beforehand.

Last Chance. Stop reading if you want to avoid any risk of spoilers.

B. GINNIE WEASLEY
C. SEVERUS SNAPE
D. XENOPHILUS LOVEGOOD
E. MARIETTA EDGECOMBE
F. MADAM ROSMERTA
G. STANLEY SHUNPIKE

If the answer is A: Begin at Parking Lot No. 1 and take the trail in a generally southeasterly direction.
If the answer is B: Begin at Parking Lot No. 2 and walk up the hill to the tree line.
If the answer is C: Begin at Parking Lot No. 3 and walk up the paved road to the trail beginning at the circular drive and follow it downhill. (No parking on the driveway.)
If the answer is D: Begin at the London Tract Meeting House and follow the creek downstream.
If the answer is E: Begin at the Arc Corner Monument and follow the trail over the bridge to the east.
If the answer is F: Begin at the Flint Hill Cemetery and walk to the northeast corner. (Parking is tricky.)
If the answer is G: Begin at Franklin Township Community Park and park in the parking lot that is at the lowest elevation.

2. Who destroyed the last remaining horcrux?

A. GINNIE WEASLEY
B. RON WEASLEY
C. HERMIONE GRANGER
D. HARRY POTTER
E. NEVILLE LONGBOTTOM
F. RUBEUS HAGRID
G. TOM MARVOLO RIDDLE

If the answer is A: Follow the tree line to the south to another tree line, then to the east to a nesting box.
If the answer is B: Follow the trail past a butterfly garden and around some curves over a bridge.
If the answer is C: Follow the trail downstream to a bend in the creek.
If the answer is D: Follow the trail to a backwards Y intersection.
If the answer is E: Follow the trail until it curves to the left on an uphill plane.
If the answer is F: Sight the tree at 300 degrees and find a way to it.
If the answer is G: Follow the trail to a yellow metallic post.

3. Who is the only person on this list who is not killed by a member of the Black family (by blood or marriage)?

A. SIRIUS BLACK
B. PETER PETTIGREW
C. DOBBY
D. BELLATRIX LESTRANGE
E. NYMPHADORA TONKS

If the answer is A: Walk 14 paces due south, then 20 paces at 135 degrees. (Watch out for stickers!)
If the answer is B: Continue following the trail to an arrow sign.
If the answer is C: Turn right and follow the new trail to a bench.
If the answer is D: Continue following the trail to the second bench.
If the answer is E: Look for the carved beech tree at a different elevation than where you are standing.

4. What is the one thing on this list that a snake is never described doing in the Harry Potter series?

A. DELIVERING THE SORTING HAT TO HARRY
B. ATTACKING A WEASLEY
C. WINKING
D. MOVING A CAULDRON
E. THREATENING HARRY
F. CIRCLING A TOMBSTONE
G. EATING THE BODY OF ARAGOG

If the answer is A: Cross a bridge and walk another 43 paces, then look to your right for a large Y tree.
If the answer is B: Turn left at the next intersection, then walk approximately 75 paces to a rock face.
Id the answer is C: Turn around and walk back 27 paces, then look for the tall stump to your left.
If the answer is D: Continue on the trail until you see the second stump sawed close to the ground.
If the answer is E: Walk another 7 paces past the second Y tree.
If the answer is F: Continue until you see a fairly large boulder that looks like Newfoundland.
If the answer is G: Turn right at the trail post and continue to the second arrow sign.

5. X = the number of the page on which the first reference to a snake is made in the series.

6. Y = the number of the page of the book in which Nagini first makes an appearance.

7. Walk about Y steps at a bearing of ((X * Y)/2) - (Y/2) to a large broken tree still attached to its stump.

8. Sight the enormous leaning tree about another Y steps away. The letterbox is on the downslope side under a SPOR. Please replace carefully so the box is not washed away. Enjoy the view.

3 July 2011 update: Not sure that Direction 7 works. Face the object in Direction 4 and make about a 45 degree turn to the right to sight the leaning tree. There are easier ways of getting there than a straight line. I still advise long pants.
