The main entrance to Tryon Creek State Park is at 11321 SW Terwilliger Blvd. Take a walk into the rustic and beautiful nature center where you can find all kinds of helpful information.
From the door of the nature center find the trail that begins heading north. Follow the trail nearest the parking lot. Take the Maple Ridge Trail. Go up the North Horse Loop Trail. When the trail splits, choose the lower road. Keep heading down, down, down. And head up again when you come to a large log by the side of the trail. Watch out for markings left by horses and make sure you stay on the trails horses can travel. Find three posts marked with horseshoes. In between two of the posts look for the cavernous mouth at the bottom of a tree.
