We are repairing the box right now. There was a controlled burn of the area and our box had a bit of damage. We'll put it back out ASAP. 4-9-2010
Ephesians 4:17 "...the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God."
The symbol of St. Paul the Apostle is a sword overlaid with an open Bible: Spiritus Gladius - The Sword of the Spirit. Brookfield has been home to St. Paul's Lutheran Church since 1902 and this symbol adorns both the exterior and interior of the church.
To find the symbol go to Kiwanis Park in Brookfield at Brookfield Ave. and Arden.
Park on Arden and take the paved path that runs along right field of the ball park, walking toward the playground. Go past the covered picnic area, the playground and the horseshoe pits. Leave the paved path and continue on the woodchip path to the right of the Grulke All Volunteer Field. The path will fork, go to the right into the Oak Savanna. After you pass the "Alien Invaders" look to your left for a big fallen tree. Under the tree's roots you will find Spiritus Gladius, the Sword of the Spirit. Cover it up well and watch out for poison ivy!
