This gives someone an opportunity to take a nice easy hike.
It's about a mile each way over flat ground. Take Charleston Ave west out of Las Vegas to Red Rock Cyn. Stop at the visitor center and enjoy it for while first. Take the loop about 3/4 of the way around to Pine Creek. From the trailhead, take the trail approx 1 mile. There are the remnants of the "Old Wilson Homestead". From the bottom of the cement stairs, there is a small tree with a hollow base. It is about 5 ft from the stairs. The box is in that "hollow". There is a flat rock over the hollow. There is another box at the beginning of this same trail. Look up "Pine Creek Lizard" and make it a double find day. Take a picnic lunch and some water. There is more to see if you choose to go on from the homestead. Update 1/24/10- replaced box after someone told me original had gone missing. Also found out that "Stalking Moon" starring Gregory Peck was filmed at this very site!
