BEWARE! This clue is somewhat macabre, and might not be suitable for young children…

This box was originally inside the cave, but was moved by someone (Then found, thankfully). That said, we decided to plant it outside the cave instead. Don’t worry though, you can still take a guided tour or go exploring yourself.*

In 1905, seven explorers went into Eagle cave, located in Blue River, WI. They were determined to find a new room of the cave. They would hope to name it after themselves.

They searched through the whole cave, every crack and crevice. They were up all night for three days straight. Until, on the fourth day, one explorer, James Martin found a tight passage underneath the part of the cave named Fat Man’s Misery. Now, they did know that this part was not yet discovered. What they did not know, is that this passage was many years old, and about ready to collapse. BANG! Several large boulders fell to cover their entrance. They could not find another entrance/exit in the whole passage. They were stuck and with several years of time, them and their children adapted to survive in these conditions.

One hundred years later however, a crew of five women came with the same ambition as the one before. To find a new part of Eagle cave. They also searched every possible spot, until, by the snake pit, they saw a small passage that they decided to go through. On their way through this passage, they found a stake that they figured was at least 100 years old. One of the women got stuck on a narrow passage. As she was making her way out, she broke her leg. When they were about to rest and talk things over, they heard something crawling on the top of the cave. They looked up and spotted it. It lunged down at them and killed two. The rest ran off, hoping that they wouldn’t be next.

One of them was running full speed through the cave. As she was running, she slipped on a wet rock. Her screams of pain could be heard from a mile away. These creatures in the cave were blind with acute hearing. They hunted their prey with sonar. So off they went to get a piece of the meal.

There were two sisters on this crew. They were together. They ran through the cave in search of an exit. They heard a creature behind them and hid under a ledge. One sister had her watch. BEEP! It rang through the cave. The creature had them waiting for death.

The last alive chose to go back the way they had come to this death trap. When she got onto the trail, she was out of breath. Yet she ran all the way to the exit. She saw the door and sprinted to it. She slammed into it. WHACK! It was locked from the outside! She saw a wood covered section. She ran into it and it broke. She thought that she had freedom. There was a brick wall around the edge of the cave there. She couldn’t get out! So next to the wall she sat, awaiting impending death.
