HORN LINE
Location: Cawley Stadium, Douglas Rd. Lowell, MA
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 10 minutes
In the spring of 2005 our daughter joined the Color Guard for the SHRHS marching band & we became “band parents”.
This is one in a series of 6 boxes planted in honor of her senior year & dedicated to “band geeks” & their parents everywhere.
Each box is planted at a different site were the SHRHS marching band has competed this (fall 2008) season. We are privileged to be able to travel with a group of hard working kids & staff, who continually amaze us with their dedication, music & high scores at MICCA, NESBA & USSBA shows. GO SHRHS!
As most of these boxes are located on High School property please plan your searches for when school is NOT in session. Better yet find out when each school hosts their home show & after letterboxing enjoy some great music & field shows. Maybe we’ll see you there.
CLUES:
NEW STAMP & LOCATION:4/30/2011
The Horn Line didn't survive the winter of 2011. The stamp has been recarved & a new location found.
Crawley Stadium is where NESBA holds their marching band finals every fall. Next to the parking lot on Douglas Rd. find the John Janas Memorial Skating Rink. Near the sign is a stonewall, look behind the wall close to the sign to find the Horn Line warming up.
HORN LINE: Consists of brass instruments that produce a tone by the vibration of the lips as the player blows into a tubular resonator. The horn line includes both valved ( trumpets, tubas, sousaphones etc.) & slide ( trombones etc.) instruments.
After stamp[ing in please seal tightly & rehide. Box 6 will be planted 11/1/08 in Quincy.
