Two Scoops, Please!

"Can we go get some ice cream?" the girl asked.

"Don’t you want to hide our letterbox first?" dad countered.

"Yes, of course!"

They climbed into the car and started driving northwest out of Phoenixville.

"How far is it to the park?"

"Oh, about 7 miles. It won’t take long to get there," answered dad.

As they reached the park entrance, dad joked "we should get some pizza first", pointing across the road from the park entrance.

The girl rolled her eyes, exclaiming, "Dad, you always say that! That place has been closed for years!"

They drove to the last parking area in the park, near the
boat launch. Then they started walking on the trail with the river on the left and a small pond on the right.
Soon they reached a guard rail which blocked the path.

"Is the trail closed? Are we allowed to walk on it?"

"Sure. They just put that up to prevent kids from riding minibikes on the trail. Just hop over it", dad replied.

They continued on the trail. There were some nice views of the river through the trees on the left.

After walking for a few minutes, the girl said, "Let’s see where that trail on the right goes!"

"No, I think we should keep going straight", dad said.

**** (UPDATE: Cinder block is now gone; there is a large tree that has fallen and runs parallel to the path where the block used to be; walk about 360 to 400 steps from the junction with the trail on the right to the hollow log on the left side of the trail.) ****

They walked for a few more minutes. Then, the girl said, "Look, there is a cinder block to the left, just off of the trail. Let’s hide the box in there!"

But dad said, "No, I don’t think it will fit. But what about this hollow log about 6 or 7 feet to the left of the cinder block? We can put the letterbox there and cover it with some bark!"

"Yes", agreed the girl. Then she added, "Can we have some ice cream now?"

"Ok, Ok", dad relented.

"Two scoops, please!" As usual, the girl had the last word.
