Difficulty: Hard climb
Location: A 3 mile hike from parking.
Elevation: Flat, but not completely smooth.
Materials: Bring your own stamp pad, log book, stamp.
Challenge: Climbing the steep slope up to the LB from the 29 mile marker.

This box is hidden in a remote area near the village of Cairo, WV.

There are multiple starting points from along the Great Bend Trail bikepath, anywhere from Parkersburg to Clarksburg. However, your goal is at the 29 mile marker on the path, so do the following:

To reach the point, park in downtown Cairo and take the rail trail East from marker 26 (at the iron bridge). See Walking the Dog in Cairo for directions to the departure point. Three miles on, you will pass through the first of three tunnels on the trail.

Immediately after the tunnel, at mile marker #29, you will find a shelter house or gazebo on the left. You are close.

Find the mile marker and then walk seven paces to the nearest corner of the gazebo. Turn left 90 degrees and look up the slope that rises to the right of the tunnel entrance.

You will see a conifer (pine) tree with two red marks spray painted on the trunk. (Do not mistake the tree with another painted with two red hoof marks that is behind and slightly below the rest house. That tree should not be visible from where you stand.) What you seek is hidden in a hole opening in the roots of this upper tree. The climb up to this tree will be a challenge for anyone who is not able bodied and NOT accessible for a handicapper.

Please bring a stamp pad, towel for the jar, pen and your own stamp pad. The stamp is a manufactured foam stamp, not hand-carved. Please reseal all baggies and replace all materials into the hold, being careful not to let the jar roll down the slope.
