This is a letterbox about outdated technology and murder, about evil and sorrow, about air pollution and a touching but maudlin display which seems to be returning to the earth.

To find the Dirty Burning Letterbox take the South Cloverdale exit off Hwy. 101. At South Cloverdale turn south and drive 1/2 mile. On your right you’ll see a little turnout and just beyond that some small signs and statues, a bench and assorted stuff. If you pass 27775 you will have driven too far. Turn around and look again. When you get there you will find what was originally the spontaneously built Polly Klaas memorial since it’s very near where, after being forcibly taken in the night from her Petaluma home, she was murdered and discarded. It’s now called the Children’s Memorial. Look for God’s little angels and then the Children’s Tree. Face the Children’s Tree and its plaque. Then look to your right and up a little to the large rusting structure. This is an old burn container and was once state of the art in pollution and burn control. Head in that direction and use the small path to cross the often dry creek. Approach the burn structure and find the “front door.” Stand with your back to the door. Now walk south and stop at the small oak tree (the tree is about 12 feet high 10/12/08). Go around to the south side of the tree. Lotsa junk, huh? You’re looking for a particular piece of junk. At 250 degrees and nine steps you will find a piece of junk made of concrete and iron. When you find it position yourself so the arms are pointing at you. Note the alcove formed by the iron and concrete. At the inside back corner of the concrete on your left side under a smaller piece of concrete rubble and weeds you will find the Dirty Burning Letterbox.

Thank you for coming. Please close everything up tightly and hide carefully.
