This box is planted to commemorate an unexpected night hike out of the New Tripoli campsite. A camping trip was interrupted by a visit from a black bear that prompted a late night hike by full moon back to the car. It was a nice hike on a beautiful night despite the circumstances. So practice your night hiking skills, because you never know when you may need them or what beauty you may find.

To the Trailhead
Take 309 North from Allentown almost to the top of Blue Mountain. Park in the lot right after you cross the Appalachian Trail.

To the Letterbox
Follow the Appalachian Trail towards Maine for about two miles, until you come to a high tension power line tower.

Stand beneath the tower looking South towards Allentown. Follow the rock "crest" before you towards Georgia. Pass an oak tree on your right and come to a multi-trunk tree on your left. Look under the rock past the multi-trunk tree that is perpendicular to the crest.

(Bring a pen and stamp pad, as the letterbox has neither)

Enjoy.
