Ixchel (pronounced ee-shell) is the Mayan goddess of birth and medicine. Images of her can be found among many Mayan structures, including a beautiful fresco at the Tulum ruins.

Trail difficulty: Easy. You're on vacation.
Clue difficulty: Ditto.

Clues: The Ixchel letterbox is located at the Dreams resort on Punta Cancun in the hotel zone. If you are staying at this hotel, this should be easy. If not, it may be a serious challenge. Since placing this, I understand wristbands are now needed to identify guests and you may be denied access without one. It may be possible to walk along the beach from another hotel, but you may have to resort to creative means to get there. Once inside, find your way to the path along the ocean on the north side of the hotel (north of the "pyramid" building adjacent to the dolphin lagoon). Here you will find the ruins of two small Mayan structures called Ocean Shrine #1 and Ocean Shrine #2. Across the path from Shrine #1 is a semicircular overlook. At about 10 o'clock or 11 o'clock from this overlook on the sea wall is a slab of stone or concrete painted purple. Ixchel is hidden under the slab covered by rocks.

Notes:
- No inkpad or pencil in the box, make sure you bring your own.
- This is a busy place, please be discreet!
- Due to the location along the sea wall, tropical storms, and the amount of people coming here, this letterbox will probably not last forever. If you think you have found the location and the box is missing, please email me and I'll send you an image.
- Please do not ask me for additional hints without offering a bribe of unpublished clues, hitchhikers, etc.
- Please email me with notes about the box: jelybean.books@comcast.net.
