To locate this letterbox, you can enter the trail either from the ranger’s station at Cliffview or from the Chestnut Yard entry on state rd 607. From Cliffview bike or walk 3.25 miles to the Chestnut Creek falls between mile markers 46 and 47. From Chestnut Yard travel approximately 1 mile.

From either direction this should take you to the Chestnut Creek bridge at the falls. From the bridge where the gravel starts, take approximately 84 steps in the direction of Galax.. At this point, there is a trail to the left leading you down to the creek. Follow the trail until it ends at the rocks by the creek. At the largest rock go around to the right stepping across the water then forward and toward the left where you must cross back a small flow of rushing water. Use caution to avoid the wet surfaces of the rock as they are very slippery. The dry surfaces allow good traction. Follow the water’s edge around to the far left. There will be a Rhododentron with a large hollow base. Look for the box underneath a large flat rock. Sign the book inside and make comments. Be sure to hide the box back beneath the rock after sealing the ziplock bag to protect it from wildlife and other destructive things. This is a great spot to enjoy a picnic as we have at least once. Be sure to send us an e-mail to our address above and let us know what you think.

Please e-mail us with any questions and please e-mail us if you find the box at aliceletterboxing@yahoo.com. We look forward to hearing from you.
