This series of stamps are designed to give you a complete train when finished. My husband, trucker, was a train buff when he was a child. They will be located near train related areas around northeast TX.

This box is located at the caboose in Grand Saline. This caboose was used on the TX short line railway that ran between here and Alba, about ten miles. It was used by the salt mines in Grand Saline and the cola mines near Alba. In 1930 another ten mile stretch was added to go to the oil fields near Van. In 1959 the line between Grand Saline and Alba was abandoned and the other was in 1962. This caboose was presented to the city after the closing of the lines.

In front of the caboose is a cast iron kettle that was used in the mining of salt in the early days.

The clues: The caboose sits on a side street just a couple of blocks south of Highway 80. Park in the lot beside the caboose with your back to the library. Face the caboose and walk along the east side until you get to the rear. You will notice a drop down into a yard. Follow the concrete barrier to the right. You will notice a group of trees near a power pole. the box is near the base of the trees in front behind some shrubbery. Please be careful this is a public area surrounded by many businesses.
