What is the true story of the curse of the billy goat? There are several versions and we may never know all the facts.

William Sianis, an immigrant from Greece, and the owner of a tavern near Wrigley field, used to bring his goat to a Cubs ball game now and then. In 1945 he bought two tickets to game four of the world series between the Cubs and the Detroit Tigers. The goat wore a banner that read "We've got Detroits goat".Some say that they were denied access because of the goat's foul odor. There are also stories that president Harry Truman was in attendance that fateful day, and that Cubs owner Phil Wrigley denied access to the goat , also because of his foul odor. The version that seems to make the most sense is that William and his goat were indeed allowed entrance to the park and were enjoying the game. However, it started raining and the goat developed a foul odor. Because of this both the goat and it's owner were ejected. When he left the park Sianis cursed the Cubs. We don't know the exact words. Stories vary from "You will never win another World Series", "You will never win another World Series until you apologize to my goat", You will never win another World Series as long as Phil Wrigley owns the team", and so on. When the Cubes went on to lose the Series, Sianis sent a telegram to Phil Wrigley. "Who stinks now?", it asked.
The Cubs have not won a World Series since. They last won in 1908, and are baseballs most futile team in their pursuit of a championship. This may be the year to break the curse. They have a strong team and will be tough in the playoffs.
Do you believe in curses? I have never taken them lightly. I have been a Red Sox fan since the early 1950's and heard about the curse of the bambino for fifty years. The Red Sox sold Babe Ruth (the bambino) to the Yankees in 1918 and did not win another World Series until 2004.
A strange coincidence occured between these two cursed teams in the 1986 World Series. The Red Sox were leading the Mets three games to two and had a one run lead in the ninth inning with two outs, needing only one out to win. A ground ball to Bill Buckner who was playing first base was going to clinch it for the Sox, but the ball went through his legs. The Sox lost the game and the next game to lose the series. Buckner had not only previously played for the Cubs, he had a Cubs batting glove under his first baseman's mitt. He always wore it on his catching hand to help protect it from hard throws. Cursed??

Curses or not enjoy the letterbox. Latest development-Theo Epstien, the general manager that helped the Red Sox break the curse of the bambino is now the GM of the Cubs. Good luck, Theo.

NEW BULLETIN; The Cubs curse has been broken as the Cubs won the World Series in 2018....Maybe the goat finally died!!!!

Directions:

From Route 295 take exit 8B Route 7. Follow Route 7 until it comes to Route 102. At the traffic light take a left and proceed up the hill. At the top of the hill is another traffic light. Turn right there into the Burrillville Middle School parking lot.

From the parking lot follow the paved walkway left to the running track. Walk around the outside of the track either way to the light pole that is diagonally across from where you are.
Behind the light pole is a path into the woods. Follow this path downhill and take a left path. Walk about 90 steps to a large tree on the right with burls around the base. Six steps after this tree are rocks. On the downward side hidden in a cave the Billy Goat is grazing.

There are clues to a bonus box (The Blessing) in the log that are scratched out and illegible. I don't know how this happened and bonus box is not in place, this has been verified by original planter. Bonus has been retired.
