This letterbox is hidden on the dog-friendly side of the Wilderness Center in Wilmot, OH. You can find driving directions at www.wildernesscenter.org.

From the parking lot, walk back towards the entrance on the main road. Cross the street and go onto the trail next to the “picnic area” sign. Cross the field, passing by the Rustic Shelter. Enter the “Sugarcreek Trail” to the right of the trailhead sign.

You will pass a sign post on your right that says “Sugarcreek Trail” with a red arrow pointing the way. Continue on the trail until you have walked over 3 patches of gravel. After the 3rd gravel patch, continue down the hill, which winds around to your left. Once the trail levels off, you will see a “double” tree just off the trail on your right. This tree has initials carved in it. From this tree, go about 12 steps forward. On your right, down the hill, will be a fallen tree. Look to your left. Straight up the hill (off the path) you will see a large tree with a hollowed out space on the right of the trunk. Walk to this tree, being careful to avoid prickers. The box is hidden in the hollow of the tree, covered with leaves. Please recover carefully when you are done.

Go back to the trail and proceed around the loop, which will take you back to the Rustic Shelter. If you are in a hurry, you can also just go back the way you came in.

Good luck!
