This box is placed on the "Silver Falls" hike in Mt. Rainier National Park. There are two starting points from which you can reach the box: Ohanapecosh campground, or “Grove of the Patriarchs” trail. There is no visitor’s fee when you start at Ohanapecosh, but it is much shorter starting from Grove of the Patriarchs.

To start from Ohanapecosh campground and visitors center: Check out the visitors center and take the short walk behind it to see the hot springs. Both are very cool and kid friendly.
To find the box, find the Silver Falls trail head. Silver falls is a loop trail, depending on which entrance you go in, it is 1.3 or 1.4 miles to the box. While on the trail, find a signpost with two signplates on it. It is at a 3-way trail crossing near the bridge that crosses the main river. (The items listed on it are: Eastside Trail, Grove of the Patriarchs, Deer Creek Camp, Cowlitz Divide Trail, and Ohanapecosh.) Take the trail up towards Grove of the Patriarchs. Go 30 paces up this trail. Hike along a split rail fence. Count the posts. “‘Shrooms” is hidden at the base of the rock wall on your left across from the 7th post in the fence. I have placed a light colored stone in front of the hole. Please re-seal and re-hide well. It may take some shifting to get it back in position so that others can’t see the box.
(I encourage you to go all the way to the grove after finding the box. The trees there are incredible, and it is a lovely little walk/hike. It won’t add that much distance to the distance you have already come.)

To start from Grove of the Patriarchs: Across the road from the trailhead for the grove is a trail that will access the silver falls hike. Take this trail down until you come to a three way trail intersection with a signpost that has 2 sign plates on it. (The items listed on it are: Eastside Trail, Grove of the Patriarchs, Deer Creek Camp, Cowlitz Divide Trail, and Ohanapecosh.) Turn around and go back up the trail up towards Grove of the Patriarchs. Go 30 paces up the trail. Hike along the split rail fence. Count the posts. “‘Shrooms” is hidden at the base of the rock wall on your left across from the 7th post in the fence. I have placed a light colored stone in front of the hole. Please re-seal and re-hide well. It may take some shifting to get it back in position so that others can’t see the box.

The Silver Falls and Grove of the Patriarchs hike combo is one of my family’s favorites. I hope you enjoy it, too. God bless, Mountain Girl 3.
