Kelseys Kreadtions created this wonderful stamp!

Since the Ming Dynasty, a large fu character would often be found at the entrances of houses to bring a continuous flow of good luck through the door. Usually written in black ink on red diamond-shaped paper, fu is affixed upside down. This is because the phrase "to turn upside down" dao4, is also a pun on the word "arrived" dao4. An upside down fu therefore means "Luck has arrived". This good luck symbol is a popular decoration during Chinese New Year

To find your way to this auspicious letterbox, you need to find your way to The Peak, Hong Kong. There are various modes of transport to get there, but if you have never done it before, The Peak Tram is worthwhile. If you’ve been there and done that, bus 15 from Exchange Square in Central will take you on a thrill ride up the hill – be sure to sit on the upper deck for the best view.

When you are ready to start your quest, locate the entrance to the Pok Fu Lam Country Park, just across the street from the bus terminus at The Peak. This is a lovely paved path which takes you downhill to the Pok Fu Lam Reservoir. There are interesting sign boards pointing out local flora, and many of the trees are labeled for your identification. One that may interest you the most, located on the right-hand side of the trail, is the Wild Cheery tree. Approximately 35 steps further down the path on the left-hand side of the trail, you may wish to take a rest and look around. There is a concrete drainage runoff channel just a few feet away (marked 25-5). Keeping to the left-hand side of the channel (facing it), wander uphill around 20 steps. You will find a tree where the runoff channel y’s out, marked with a red dot. Your Good Fortune lies behind it covered with local rocks.

If you come to a small covered pavilion (sitting-out area) on the left-hand side of the trail, you have gone too far.

Please be careful when searching for Good Fortune as this is a heavily traveled path, probably more so on Sundays. Once you have completed your quest, you can continue down the path to the reservoir or reverse your steps and return to The Peak.

If you chose to go to the reservoir, the guide book lists this as a 7 km walk. At the bottom of the hill you will come to Pok Fu Lam Road. To return to Central, you need to very carefully cross the road and catch the 91 bus, or some of the many other options.
