Park at the free lot on Atwater at Rivard.

The spectacular International RiverWalk celebrates the waterway separating and connecting the U.S. and Canada. When complete, the riverfront pathway and linear park will extend from Belle Isle to the Ambassador Bridge for a total of 4.7 miles.

The new promenade along the Detroit River offers guests and locals the opportunity to stroll, exercise or just relax on a RiverWalk bench to enjoy views of Canada and the river that connects Lake St. Clair to Lake Erie.

Begin your walk at the carousel near two amazing sculpture maps illustrating city and suburban roadways and Great Lakes waterways. Continue west past a constantly changing series of warm-weather water fountains.

Find the spot where the world lights up near the Winter Garden.

The cities of Detroit and Windsor have honored the thousands who crossed from slavery to freedom via the Underground Railroad with two bronze monuments flanking the river. Detroit’s sculpture features eight figures gesturing over the river towards Canada. This monument is mirrored on the Canadian side of the river with a 22-foot-high sculpture of former slaves embracing freedom.
