Mickey Meets Titus
Charles E Tilton erected the Arch as a tribute to the memory and appreciation of his ancestors. The Arch is located 150 feet above the Winnipesaukee River. It is 55 feet high and is an exact replica of Rome's Arch of Titus. Mr. Tilton also had a mausoleum constructed under the arch where he intended to be buried. His dream was that the twin towns of Tilton and Northfield would merge and become a greater Tilton. But this was not to be because of the local pride. He refused to be buried in Northfield and thus was buried in Park Cemetery.
Parking area off of Summer Street in Northfield, by the town hall. Find Titus and note the year on the monument he lies on. Walk back that amount of steps on the sidewalk that the year adds up to. Turn left and walk about 10 steps towards the woods and you will notice a faint trail among the trees. Enter and to the right you will spot a row of big rocks. Under the 4th pile you will find a letterbox.
