*Stamp, ink, and pen are in the box.
*A compass and mosquito spray may be helpful! Oh, don’t forget a “doggie duty bag”

Who is Maya??
I was walking around Mt. Pleasant one day, and without any notice, I ended up in an unfamiliar place. With cement beneath me and metal fencing around me, I was scared, but later I thought I may have been on a vacation. I stayed there for a week. That place was not that bad. I was taken for walks everyday and given food without even asking. Two people came and saw me everyday for the entire week and promised to come back. One lucky day, they took me home and named me Maya. I have many friends still there and encourage you to take the time to go and see them too. Please visit the Isabella County Animal Shelter at 1105 South Isabella Road. WOOF!

My new mommy and daddy love to take me for walks around Mt. Pleasant. We often go to Mission Creek Park.

Once we reach the park, we leave our car in the parking lot. There is a single stone in this lot that leads us NORTH to the “Nature Trail North” trailhead.

Enter the trail and begin your adventure with us.

Follow the curves of the trail until you reach the first bend. Continue to follow the path to the EAST, do not take the stairs.

Soon you will see a little deer path on your left and a large pine on your right. I would like to do some sniffing around these areas but mommy and daddy make sure we stay on the main path.

You’ll come to a “Y” - stay on the path.

You’ll come to a second “Y”- yes, stay on the path, again.

Shortly, there will be a little hill. As you walk up the hill, listen and you will hear the sound of the creek below.

Follow the path along the creek for awhile and you will see a second bench. I usually get a treat as we pause near that bench. We often wonder if this is where Mt. Pleasant got its name because it seems as we are on a "mountain." We then continue our way on the path to the SOUTH.

Before the hill, you will find a stack of birch logs surrounding a single rock EAST of the trail, and four birch trees on the WEST of the trail. Behind these birch trees is your treat!

Continue on the trail and it will quickly bring you back to the parking lot.
