UPDATED: June 28, 2009 We checked on the boxes recently, both are in place. The construction on the trail is now finished and the new description below reflects the changes. ENJOY!

DREAM DOG Planted by "Ms. Motorcycle" and "Mich"

Begin your search at Kohler-Andrae State Park near Sheboygan, Wisconsin. The park requires a fee or park sticker. After entering through the main gate, continue on the main road, past the road to the Sanderling Nature Center. Just past the Group Camp (on your left) is a stop sign. Take a left at the stop sign, go past the Whispering Pines Amphitheater (on your right) and follow the road as it curves right. Stay right, go past the Beach House (on your left), the gazebo (on your right), until you reach the very end of a series of parking lots. Park closest to the playground.

Take the path through the playground to the Woodland Dunes Nature Trail. You'll see a map of the trail, which shows that it loops around a large counter-clockwise circle for about 1 mile. The trail heads right; stay on this trail by following the signs saying "Nature Trail." You will see several benches along the way, each with a different inscription, as well as several signs explaining the wonders of nature.

The construction is finished and you'll notice new gravel on parts of the trail. After you've walked for a bit, you'll begin seeing campsites on your right. Follow the trail as it heads to the right, into the camping area. Continue following the arrows and watch the tree markers and you'll see that you're still on the Woodland Dunes Nature Trail. Once you've left the camping area and walk a bit, you will find yourself heading towards the lake. Can you hear the sounds of the water calling you? As the trail becomes more sandy, you resist the urge to turn onto one of the many small paths that take you towards the sound of the lake (or perhaps you give in to the urge, just be sure to return to the Main Trail). You will come to a sign on your right that talks about a Cold Remedy. Walk on the trail 8 steps past the sign and turn left heading up onto a small sand dune towards a large circular shaped set of low lying bushes. Make your way around this largest set of bushes until the sand ends. Reach down under the bushes and find your "Dream."

After stamping in, return to the Nature Trail, continuing in the same direction you were before. You will reach a point where you must decide whether to go left or right, and again you will follow the sign for the "Nature Trail." Soon you will reach a bench on your left inscribed "Red Pine." Walk on the trail 7 steps past the bench where you'll notice a large tree on the left of the trail. Stop here and turn right, heading towards towards the lake, and follow the small animal path through the fallen birch trees scattered around, walking about 25 steps to where a piece of a White Birch tree has fallen into a group of smaller trees. Look into the base of these trees, reaching under the BARK to find the "Dog."

After stamping in, return to the trail continuing in the same direction you were before. You will reach the end of the loop and see the playground once again. This is our first time planting letterboxes, please let us know how we did.
