This is a very easy box, once you locate the trail. Do walk carefully as this trail is part of the Forest Preserve, and very rarely traveled. Please be careful to tread lightly in this beautiful forest. There is a waterfall at the end of the trail, less than 1 minute from the road. You arrive at the top of the falls, so be sure not to let small children run ahead.

From Rte 28 in Eagle Bay, take Big Moose Rd. 7.4 miles to Twitchell Road. Watch carefully, there are some twists and turns.

Turn right on Twitchell Road. The paved road ends after 1 mile, but continue on dirt road another 1.8 miles. At 1.7 miles, you will go over a small bridge. Start counting the telephone poles after the bridge (they switch sides, so watch carefully). Between poles 5 and 6, watch for a trail opening on your right. Path is somewhat sandy at the entrance, and there is a pink ribbon about 7 feet up on a tree next to the opening.

Walk to the end of the path and past the large boulder on your right to see the waterfall. When you are ready to move on, turn around and stand with the boulder on your left (you are now on the path between the boulder and a tree). Walk 40 paces back towards the road. (About half way back down the trail)

Look on your right for a group of 3 boulders and several downed trees. Walk carefully to the right and back of the closest boulder to the path. The box is all the way around the other side, near the back, under the rock. There is some bark covering it.

While you're in the area, stop for a bite at one of our favorite places: Big Moose Inn, The Glenmore Hotel, or Big Moose Station.

Enjoy!
