Take Hwy 32 to Archibald Lake Road. Watch for a sign indicating a right-hand turn onto an unpaved road to Cathedral of Pines. There is a small parking area there. Read about these magnificent trees and the woman who saved them. Take the marked trail up the hill to the left of the information sign. You will come to a beautiful park-like, serene setting amid the pines with a bench on the right. Directly behind the bench is a fallen tree. Beside its stump and under the downed tree you will find the letterbox.
Take time to walk the trails and marvel at these trees and their inhabitants. It is sobering to think that once these tall pines covered all of northern Wisconsin and that they were gone in less than fifty years' time to the lumber barons. Go ahead and hug one!
