8/17/2009 The buoy line may have been moved?????
That would screw up the clues. On 8/21/2009 we received a "FOUND" note saying that it took 120 steps from the buoy line.

This year’s trip to Suttle Lake didn’t seem so subtle. The wind was either blowing like crazy or not. Well the stamp was carved so it had to be planted.
Suttle Lake has a few regulations to help keep the water skiers separated from the fishermen. There are two speed buoys set just off of the South Shore Boat Ramp. If you walk over to the North Shore trail either from the day use picnic area or are doing a walk around the lake line up the two buoys then walk towards the day use area 22 steps to a large log that has been cut for trail usage. One end has a denuded (barkless) end at the trail. Five steps uphill on the NE side will get you the letterbox if you move some bark pieces.

Note: On your way from the day use area, in addition to lining up the buoys, you can tell you are getting close to the destination log by watching for an “artsy”, tall, charred tree stump at water’s edge which will be 195 steps from the letterbox log and just 8 steps before the letterbox log, on the right is a trail side tree that has a large root angling onto the trail for about 5 feet.

When researching our clues please be aware that when previous searchers list “ATTEMPTED” on the clue sheets it may reflect more on their abilities as finders than indicate whether the box is viable or not. We do monitor our clues and boxes pretty well and appreciate the notes written to us by those that find or attempt our letterboxes.
