All 3 of the Horicon Library letterboxes are within a quick bike-ride’s distance of the library itself. This first box will take you on a walk in the woods.

Go to a lovely public forest nearby, but beware the wild parsnip! Take a stroll down the comfortable woodchip-mulched path. Look at the foliage along the path: the airy Columbine leaves that seem to float unsupported by stems, the fairies’ umbrellas called Mayapples and the tri-lobed leaves and crazy spathes (in spring) of the Jack-in-the-Pulpit. Read the signs: learn about the hardwood community, the woodland birds, the rotting log. STOP! Halt at the sign that tells about the rotting log. Turn back toward the entrance to this forest. Take 6 medium-sized steps. Look to your left; behind and under. You will find the letterbox hidden there.

Do your letterboxing thing, but please, continue on the path through the woods and go see the gorgeous marsh!
