LETTERBOXING
Hidden on 5/28/08
by New Castle Recreation & Parks/Active Adults 60+
at Gedney Park, Millwood, NY
(*Easy walk – 1 mile total)
Park car in main parking lot; proceed to the “Welcome to Gedney
Park” sign located in front of playground.
Stay to the right on the macadam path.
Pass observation deck by lake on your left.
Proceed to the Park; bear left. The lake is on your left.
Stay on the park road. From the metal park gates, walk
approximately .3 of a mile. You will come to the end of the lake
and continue walking by the stream, which is on your left.
At the end of the .3 of a mile, turn left onto a trail marked by a post
and beam fence at the entrance.
At about .1 of a mile you will see a ballpark on your right. A bench
will be by the trail facing the ballpark.
From the bench, begin counting your normal walking paces. After
about 90 – 95 paces, stop and look into the woods on your left.
You will see an area of several fallen trees. Among the fallen trees
is a single, large boulder. Walk up to the boulder. Next to the
left side of the boulder is a smaller rock.
The Letterbox is between the boulder and the rock. Look carefully.
Enjoy!
