REPLACING BOX-CHECK BACK LATER FOR UPDATE OF REPLACEMENT
This box is located in Geode State Park. This park is centered around a manmade reservoir created in 1950. The beach located on the northeast shore of the lake was a very popular spot in the 1960’s,70’s and early 1980’s. There use to be a nice concession stand, bathhouse, and boat rentals. There were lifeguards on duty. It had a nice dock with diving boards in the deep water and offshore about 5 to 10 feet in water was a park slide. The first type of “water” slide. It was a lot of fun back then. However, due to lack of patrons to the beach the concessionaires had to get rid of the lifeguards and therefore removed the dock and the slide in the water. Another favorite spot in the park is a bluffy lookout nicknamed “lovers leap” this is the area in which you will find the letterbox.
To find “lovers leap” head south from beach area on trail. Trail takes off the southeast corner of the parking lot crosses the bridge, and climbs up into the woods. You will know when you get there, its about a ½ mile walk to the bluff. There is a park bench there that you can rest at and look over the water. Once you have rested, from the bench head 24 paces to the south/southeast there the box is hidden. PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO GET TO CLOSE TO THE EDGE OF BLUFF.
THIS BOX WAS DESTROYED BY ANIMALS,IT HAS BEEN TAKEN OUT AND WILL BE REPLACED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE .
