The Williamston Hornets Letterbox is located in the Williamstown Township Park on the nature trail. The park is located West of Williamston on Grand River. The Nature trail is mostly dedicated to bird watchers, but there is also a path for dog walkers. If you complete the entire trail, you will have hiked 2.75 miles. This letterbox is roughly 1.3 miles into the hike. Begin your journey at the Kiosk of birds in Williamston. Please note the map of the nature trail.

Head North on the path. When you come to the chicken’s foot, take his middle toe heading north.

When you pass the 4H bat house, be prepared to check the list of birds spotted in the area. There is a really nice list with specific seasons for each bird. Continue North on the path.

Go East to the spot where you can lounge on “Splash of Sun”. After lounging, go North and beware of the many bird habitats. We have been on this path in every season. Spring is very muddy and full of wildlife. Summer has a wonderful display of wildflowers. Winter, the best, has many wildlife tracks and fun trees.

Go directly North and look for the (We think it is a Birch tree of some kind) tree of 5 split trunks. Take 26 paces North from the tall grass to the tree. (These paces work in winter as well. Notice the path is plowed up to the tall grass). Look inside the oldest, most eaten trunk of the tree for the Williamston Hornets Letterbox.

Congratulations!

You can continue on the path heading East to follow the circle around. There are some nice views of the Red Cedar River tributary. Thanks again and have a great time!
