Oleson Bridge Trailhead is one of three Trailheads in the Grand Traverse Educational Preserve. All offer great family hiking. Don't forget your bug spray and wear socks and shoes to protect against poison ivy.

From Traverse City drive south on US31/M37 almost 3 miles past Airport Road to Chums Corner. Here turn East onto Bietner Road. Take Beitner Rd. 1.5 miles, where at the intersection of River Rd., Beitner Rd. turns into Keystone Rd. Continue on Keystone .2 more miles to the entrance of Oleson Bridge Trailhead on your left. Park your car and begin your journey on foot.

Walk down the gravel drive to the woodchip trail on your left, (the one marked, "No parking, loading site only"). At the first fork in the trail, take the right fork, marked Beaver Lodge Trail. After a little while, take the small dirt path off to the left until you see a small boulder blocking half of the path. Continue 70 paces past the boulder, going through a small clearing. Upon entering the woods again, walk 12 more paces and look to your right. You will see a large 4-trunk tree. Walk 6 paces off the path to it. Here you will find the letterbox. Of course, be sure to cover it well when you are finished. If you wish to continue on this path it circles around right next to the Boardman River back to the boulder.
