Attn: This letterbox is an orphan, and has gone missing in late June 2004.

This letterbox allows you to take a nice walk in a redwood grove, and nearby are winerys to enjoy.
Directions:
Find your way to Hendy Woods. Park in the Day use area next to Big Hendy Grove at the end of the road. Take the All Access Trail. You will cross 2 bridges, passing the Discovery Trail along the way. When you see a sign for the Herbert Salinger Memorial Grove you will be near the Fireroad Trail. Take this trail, crossing the actual fireroad. Take the trail to the Hermit Huts. At a bend in the trail, notice the Fairy Ring on the right side of the trail. Pass the first turnoff to Hermit Hut #2 and continue on to Petrov's Home. ( Petrov Zailenko was a Hermit that lived in a hollow tree stump (and several other structures) for 18 years). Read the descriptive signboard to learn about Petrov. Take 63 paces from Petrov's home, continuing along the trail, to a group of redwoods to the left of the trail. They will be at 255° Magnetic North. There is one redwood that is right next to the trail, and a second burned tree is up a slight incline, , about 9 paces in. Look for a hollow on the back side of the tree. You'll find the hermit there. Make sure to look for creepy crawlies before reaching in to grab the box. Please rehide the box well. This is an orphaned box, so let us know when you find it!
