Doodleboxes are special letterboxes that the 7 year old Toadfrog has drawn and Mommy Toadfrog has carved. This Doodlebox was generously donated for the 2008 Child Care Appreciation event in Bowling Green, KY. I thought Hilton Head was the perfect permanent spot for Ellie. I think she prefers the warm weather anyway!
Make your way to Audubon Newhall Preserve http://www.hiltonheadaudubon.org/ off of Palmetto Bay Rd. Park in the small lot and enter Newhall Trail. Keep an eye out for Elephant Ear. You'll see some on the left side of the trail.
Continue to follow the trail to the pond. Watch out for alligator by the pond! The photo is of the one we saw while we were there.
At the pond, follow it around to the right. You'll pass the Observation Deck and the Pine Flatwoods trail. Enter the first South Woods Trail entrance that you see. Follow the trail until you come to a T. Choose right. At the North Woods Trail marker on the tree, take the first trail on the right immediately after you pass the marker. About 15 steps in, look for a tall stump off the trail on the left. Ellie is hiding at the base under deadwood.
Please secure and re-hide well. Logbook should be double bagged. If you return to the T and continue straight, the trail will take you back to the pond.
