OUR STAMP AND BOX IS BEING REPLACED TO HELP PROTECT IT FROM THE ELEMENTS...THE BOX IS TEMPORARILY NOT IN ITS LOCATION BUT IT HAS HAD MANY VISITORS...IT WILL BE BACK VERY SOON. TAKEN FROM ITS LOCATION ON 5/24/09.

As Cousins from Clinton, Utah we learned a lot about Harpers Ferry. Our journey started at the Harpers Ferry bus stop for tourists.

1. Lexi loves books so head towards the bookshop.
2. The Industrial Museum taught us about harnessing the
river.
3. The Goods Store taught us how they used to trade garden foods for everyday necessities.
4. We learned about John Brown at the Master Armory House.
5. History was uncovered across the street where they are unraveling the past.
6. Behind this house are great signs of quartzite and philitite that we learned about at the Master Armory.
7. At the African American History Building we saw a real raw hide whip used to hit slaves. It was horrible.
8. Now to the Arsenal Square. This is where our letterboxing clues begin.

First, find the green fire hydrant next to the Federal Armory information sign. Take 13 paces to the corner of the Armory. Now 34 adult steps towards the power pole, near the railroad bridge. 43 steps to the next power pole, turn slightly right and head towards the Shenandoah River. Here you will find a set of stairs going down to the river. Go down four steps, turn right and step up onto the rock wall. Here you will see a nice green pathway of grass. Take 18 paces forward. Turn left. Take five more paces straight. Stop at the end of the path and look down. Here you will find our letterbox under a rock but within the wall.

Our visit to West Virginia was fun and very memorable. We hope you have fun enjoying the town of Harpers Ferry as much as we did. Our box contains a picture of us and we hope to be back soon. Have fun hunting.
