There is a charming old cemetery (Cedar Grove on Washington Street -- there are two Cedar Groves in Chaumont) overlooking the water in Chaumont Village. This box was carved and planted by Grumpy Grinch. From the original clues -- "We were visiting some of Grinch's ancestors there today, which also happens to be the birthday of one of our granddaughters. We left the Peaceful Presence to remind us of and to celebrate the family ties through many generations.
Park next to the entrance and walk into Cedar Grove through the wrought iron archway. Follow the path to your left along the top of the cemetery to the dark green maintenance building. Find the green (painted) foundation stone under one corner. The Peaceful Presence awaits your visit behind concealing rocks.
Take some time to remember those who rest there and enjoy the incredible view. To visit Grinch's GG Grandfather, look down the hill from the entrance to a rugged four-foot stump - only this one is made of stone. Say hi to FCD and be glad this is one stump landmark that won't change." This stone stump is presently laying on its side.
