Welcome to our Girl Scout letterbox. Our troop monitors the bluebird boxes that you will find on your hunt. The letterbox is a postcard exchange, so please bring a postcard with you when you visit. Have fun at the park!

Enter Black Creek Park from the north entrance off of Union Street. Turn left and follow the road to the parking lot.

You will begin your search on the trail leading from the parking lot. Follow this trail until it leads you to an open field. Take note of the butterfly garden on your right. Can you spot the two bluebird boxes further down? Did you know that the bluebird is New York’s state bird? If you brought your binoculars and a bit of patience, and if you’re visiting in spring or summer, stay awhile and try to spot a bluebird. You’ll be glad you did!

“Life is sweet, tender and complete
When you find the Bluebird of Happiness.”

Your next task is to climb the hill ahead of you. I never said this was going to be easy! When you reach the top, congratulate yourself, catch your breath, and enjoy the view.

“And when he sings to you,
Though you're deep in blue,
You will see a ray of light creep through."

There is a trail at the top of the hill. This will lead you to your treasure. Be sure of your directions and head south. You will pass two more bluebird boxes on your left. Take care not to disturb the nesting birds, and keep going until you see a small clearing with four trees. Rest awhile on one of the two stone seats. Listen to the quiet. Enjoy the birds.

"And so remember this, life is no abyss,
Somewhere there's a Bluebird of Happiness.”

After resting, continue to head south. Just around the bend, look on your left and see the moss covered rock. Ahead of this, and on your left, you will find the remains of an old stone fence. From here, on the western side of the trail, look into the woods and find the large maple tree. There is a moss covered rock at the base of this tree. Head to it and find your treasure!

“And you must sing his song, as you go along,
When you find the Bluebird of Happiness.”
