Ichabod’s Nightmare

In the legend of Sleepy Hollow, Ichabod Crane ended up missing, really he ran away to Michigan. It is said he settled in the farmland that became Lake Ovid. His descendants remained a man by the name of I.B. Crane. He built a house and tried to blend in for he didn’t want the horseman to find him again. They flooded his land and formed a state park, in choosing its name he again left his mark. All of his efforts were of no use since they named the park Sleepy Hollow and Ichabod’s Nightmare came true. The remains of the house are between 15 and 2 how long or short the trips up to you.

Locate the remains of the house along the bike/hike trail between marker 15 and 2. Stand on the chimney and look into the basement. There will be two large trees on either side. On the left at 60 degrees will be your prize. Hidden under rocks at the base of the tree – beware the headless horseman may be lurking.

Special Considerations: State Park fees apply. Bring bug spray the mosquitoes can be ferocious.
