From State Hwy 23 on the east side of Marshall, travel west on College Drive. Keep your eyes open for the SMSU Mustang, and turn right when you find his Trail.
Go through the stop sign. As you curve to the right, you will see a sign that might be appropriate at the end of fraternity row. Placed here, it's actually referring to bunnies, deer, and birds. Park your car (that will be difficult if school is in session) and walk past the sign, and past the map on the right. Your destination is about 1/3 of a mile from this spot.
Follow the mowed trail, and turn right every time you get a chance. If you do this correctly, you will come to a place designed to let you relax and enjoy a little tranquility. When you are ready, come down the stairs and start back the way you came. Before you come to the first trail crossing, you will see a cottonwood tree on the right, near the trail, that has many, many trunks. The letterbox will be in the center of the trunks.
