Pettisville is a village in Fulton County that is located between Archbold and Wauseon. Sunday's Market is the hub of Pettisville, a great place to pick up the forgotten item or just get ice cream with the kids. The store was built in 1856 and was the first building built in town. It has had numerous owners, but retains the same "Old General Store" charm. At one time in the early 1900s, one side sold groceries and the other sold hardware. A post office was in the back with one of the owners serving as Postmaster. in 1927, Virgil Sunday bouth it and continued running it until 1975. At this point, and outside stairway was attached, and a barber shop was upstairs. In 1975, the building was sold to the present owner, who rennovated it and continues to operate it under the name "Sunday's Market" today. You can see remnants of the old teller's window from the Pettisville Savings Bank on the north side of the building in the ice cream parlor. On the walls are enlargments of pictures of the old town, especially the store.
The store is located on County Rd 19, just a short 10 minutes from the turnpike. You can exit the turnpike at St Rt 108 (exit 34, Wauseon) and turn Left (south) off the ramp. Go to the first stoplight, St Rt 20A, and turn right. Follow 20A to County Rd 19 and turn left. The store is about 3 miles down on the right hand side. Come into Pettisville and cross the railroad tracks. You'll pass the Pettisville Garage, a few houses, then the store on the right.
This box is inside the store, so please apply stealth letterboxing techniques when searching. It is only available during store hours, which are Monday through Saturday, 7:30am-6pm. To find the box, enter the store and go immediately down the left most isle to the back. Look for the brushes hanging on the wall on the left. Peek beneath the display (about waist high) and find the gray box you seek. The far side of the store has a beautiful antique back bar and tables for the ice cream counter. Depending on the amount of people in there at the time, it might be a great place to stamp.
