To find The Kestrel Rock, first find the Londonderry Middle School, located on Mammoth Road, Rt. 28, in South Londonderry. Enter the parking lot and drive to the right of the building and park in the side lot. Look for the gate and the "No Parking This Side sign" Step over the wooden guardrail that leads down to a path (steep and slippery when wet) away from the school. The path will split about 25 yards in. take a left and you will see a large rock, perfect for sitting and (hopefully) viewing a Kestrel or two in the nesting box.
FYI: The school is working with the Squam Lakes Science Center on a project to help increase the numbers of the Kestrel whose numbers are in decline. More info: http://www.nhnature.org/kestrel_project_page.html
Look around the base of the viewing rock for the letterbox.
PLEASE re-hide letterbox carefully to avoid vandals.
Thanks!
