This series of stamps are designed to give you a complete train when finished. My husband, trucker, was a train buff when he was a child. They will be located near train related areas around northeast TX.
This is the first because every train needs an engine. It is located at the Red River Railroad Museum in Denison. Located in the old Katy depot.
While you are here, you should plan to visit the museum.
The Missouri-Kansas-Texas or MKT railroad was the first to enter Texas from the north. Denison TX was named for the vice president of the railroad, George Denison.
Directions:Find Denison on your map, Near the OK state line on US 75. The Katy depot with museum is on the NE corner of Houston and Main streets in downtown Denison. There is a little park outside of the depot. Park on Houston facing the historic marker here. As you stand to read the marker you will notice several paths that lead to the center of park. Look to your left and see the path that goes between the crepe myrtle trees at an angle. The steam engine is hidden at the base of the crepe myrtle nearest you. this is a very public area so use caution. thanks and have fun.
