Using the Mackinac Island map, locate the foot trail to the Crack-in-the-Island from State Road. Follow this trail deep into the woods, approximately 1/4 mile, to find the actual crack-in-the-island. You may want to use bug spray prior to your journey, as mosquitos can be quite bad. While at the west end of the crack and looking east toward the airport, find the metal post which once held the infomational placard for the crack-in-the-island. From the post, walk approximately 20 paces along the path towards the airport. You should stop just at the clearing. Look to the left and cross the crack at this spot to find a small fallen tree. Small branches and rocks hold what you seek. Please rehide well with the rocks.
