Directions: Approximatly 2 miles past the town of Detroit on Hwy 22 traveling east, turn right onto Blowout Rd. Travel about 3.5 miles to the Stahlman Point trailhead on the left side of road. (It is just past the Cove Creek campground.)
Difficulty: easy to moderate to the boxes. If you contine up the trail the summit is approximatly 2 miles farther to the lookout site, overlooking the reservoir and providing a view of Mt. Jefferson. (The last 200 feet are steep and rocky.)
Box #1 Stahlman Trail LB
Start at the trail head #3449. Hike up till you find a very large, old stump directly next to the trail. You will know you are at the correct stump if while facing up the trail the stump is at 210 degrees and you can touch the stump with your right hand. Look at the back side of the stump in a hole in the bark.
Box #2 Detroit Lake LB
Continue up the trail past a moss covered handrail. Keep hiking up. When you just about feel you need to stop and catch your breath, you will find a nice green couch to rest upon. At the northern end of the couch under moss and bark you will find a surprise.
