This series is in honor of National Trails Day.
The Rails to Trails trailhead and parking is located on Route 93 going south out of Hazleton. The closest address is for Degenhart Chiropractic, 1749 E. Broad st. Hazleton, PA.
NOTE: I did not go far off the trail with these boxes, the ticks are abundant.
Box #1 (log replaced 2015)
Start at the Trailhead, the trail will curve to the east, follow until you reach "Teddy" the trail dogs bench, continue on about 40 steps or until you see a large rock on your left. Take a reading 200* S.W. You will see a 3 tree, look at the base for a SPOR. (Please cover well this this is a replacement for one that went missing)
Box #2 (Log replaced 2015)
Continue down the trail as you come around a slight curve in the trail you'll suddenly see the orange gate up ahead. Stop and look for a rotted stump above a large rock.Stand at the stump (it's very tiny almost gone) you will see a single tree with a pile of rocks on the left of it, facing into the woods, in three steps you'll see a large lichen covered rock among the Mt. Laurel. Here you will find the box.
Hike length: 1-2 miles
